About The Artist

Born in New Jersey, J. Seward Johnson Jr. is well-known for his hyper-realistic sculptures that amplify the everyday. Cast originally in 1983, The Red Light depicts an artist painting a canvas with an open satchel containing paint beside him. This is one out of eight editions of this sculpture that have been erected, with each sculpture portraying a different painting on the canvas.
