Executive Director, Mac Campbell Earns CVE Certification

Baltimore, MD, August 14, 2024 — The Baltimore Convention Center is proud to announce that Executive Director Mac Campbell has earned his Certified Venue Executive (CVE) designation through the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). This prestigious certification reflects Mac’s commitment to excellence in venue management and dedication to the BCC’s success.

Since 1976 the CVE designation has been recognized as the highest professional certification available for venue management professionals. Achieving this certification demonstrates an executive’s dedication to professional development, operational excellence, and strategic leadership in the management of public assembly venues of all sizes.

Mac underwent a rigorous and comprehensive process that tested his knowledge, experience, and leadership abilities to earn his CVE designation. He had to submit a written essay, and complete an oral interview conducted by a panel of industry experts along with fulfilling a combination of continuing education credits, years of industry service, and executive experience.

With almost two decades of experience in venue management, Mac has been instrumental in leading the Baltimore Convention Center to new heights. He began his career operating a 2,000-seat concert hall before joining the BCC team as Director of Client Services, where he led the organization's largest department. He then advanced to Deputy Director, playing a pivotal role in the BCC’s operations, sales, and strategic initiatives. Now, as the Executive Director, Mac has not only led the venue in hosting numerous high-profile events and driving economic impact in the region but has also been a strong advocate for securing funding for the BCC. He has brought attention to the venue's needs and aligned the organization's values with Baltimore City’s vision for growth and success, ensuring the Baltimore Convention Center's continued reputation for excellence and authenticity.

“I’m incredibly honored to have received my CVE." stated Mac, "It is the international gold standard in venue management and has been an aspiration of mine for a long time. Continual learning is at the heart of being a CVE and the resulting professional growth is a core value for all of us at the BCC. An increasing number of our staff carry various current industry designations and serve as a testament to the caliber of individuals working on behalf of furthering our mission."
